May 2004:  Crane Tech Hosts MMS Meeting

Crane Tech hosts two national meetings on Offshore Platform Crane Safety. Persons in attendance represented many of the largest players in the offshore industry, including; Shell Exploration and Production Company, ExxonMobil, Chevron, Rowan Drilling, Seatrax Cranes, members of various API committees, and many others. Approximately fifty-five persons attended each of the two conferences.

Mr. Joe Gordon, Chief of Safety Management MMS, Gulf of Mexico Region, was a tremendous help as Crane Tech and Dynamic Cranes pulled together this joint industry conference after a year of increased crane incidents in the GOM region.  The focus of the meeting was to educate industry professionals on how crane regulations are developed and how industry professionals can affect future safety regulations.

Dan and Andre co-chaired the meetings and were subsequently asked by Mr. Rhome to work on a new Offshore Crane Committee that focuses on accident reduction for temporary platform cranes.

Dan Jenkins of Crane Tech poses with Russell Hoshman, MMS Petroleum Engineer of Gulf of Mexico Region, New Orleans, LA; Wilbon Rhome, MMS Regulatory Specialists Engineering & Operations Division, Herndon, VA; and Andre Franques, President of Dynamic Cranes Abbeville, LA.
