  • Cover what’s required to successfully pass the NCCCO Signal Person certification written and practical exams.
  • Provide new knowledge and skills that enhance your safety and work practices on the job.
  • Satisfy OSHA training requirements for construction, general industry, and maritime while providing essential information to keep you and your fellow workers safe.

Major Course Topics Include:

  • Hand Signals
  • Voice Communication
  • Basic Knowledge of Crane Operations
  • Situational Awareness (Site Specific Considerations)
  • Safety Standards and Regulations

Examinations

After the preparation and training, Crane Tech will facilitate the written and practical exams required for certification. To be NCCCO certified for a five-year period, candidates must pass the written exam and the practical exam.

The written examination consists of one examination with 60 multiple-choice questions, to be completed in 60 minutes. The signal person practical examination requires the candidate to demonstrate proficiency in giving both hand signals and voice commands. The practical exam also assesses the candidate’s understanding of crane dynamics and crane operations per OSHA 29 CFR 1926.1428.
